KeyCamp Holidays

Anybody have any experience with KeyCamp holiday parks. Looking into booking for Summer 2008 or possibly half term in October. Depending on price difference. Im looking more towards France or Holland as i can get discounted Train and Ferry fares but will consider an all in price too.
It will be for 2 adults, 2 kids (8 and 2 and a half).

Any advice on what camps to go or avoid or any general info much appreciated

Hi Jonny, I will ask my sister if she has any info that will help and get back to you.

She worked last year as a courier for them on a site in France.

I'll copy your detail to an e-mail, hopefully she will be around today to assist.

  • I took my kids on these holidays for many years - never had a problem and reps were always good despite being paid pittance (no minimum wage rule for working on the continent) - You are unlikely to get anything with Keycamps in France in October as most french campsite close mid september.
  • We have used them a few times now with 3 kids 10,8 and 2. Have been really good.

If your looking at France in October sites around Paris are open my sister in law is going.

can totally recommend La Croix Du Vieux Pont in Berney Riviere
    http://www.la-croix-du-vieux-pont.com/uk/

we have been twice, end of Oct last yr and July this yr :)

a fab site with plenty to do ,plus the bonus for us was that its an hour from Disneyland Paris so we took day trips there both times :)

also its open from March through to November 1st

the travelling from calais to the site is pleasant enough, and lots of places to stop for food / stretch of legs lol

we booked with the Sun cheap holidays ,but having looked at various sites i would recommend you shop about a bit

eg French life was coming up much cheaper than Siblu for the same holiday

I worked on a site in Brittany and visited all the Keycamp sites in southern
and western Brittany while I was there. If you do decide on Brittany then
definitely go in the summer, you can never guarantee sunshine there but.....
The sites always have a much better atmosphere in the summer as well, with
kids running round and the bar always busy with entertainment at night.
Don't forget about Eurocamp as well, they are both owned by Holidaybreak and
only differ in small ways (as in, I worked for both of them in my time
    there)

    Guilvinec La Plage (EC)

Yelloh Village is like a campsite agency and you have to fulfil certain
criteria to be a member, so that is usually a sign of quality.
This campsite is beautifully laid out and is literally right next to a
stretch of sandy beach (access from the site) The restaurant, take away and
bar are fantastic- the restaurant has loads of choice including a big crepe
menu and the takeaway has v reasonable pizzas. There is a shop on site that
is very well-equipped and dos the usual bakery stuff in the morning. The
pools are pretty good, there are slides but they are not very big, I was
only there for the last week of the season so it never became crowded but I
can imagine it would do. They have been promising a new pool complex for a
few years but it hasn't happened yet. The small town of Guilvinec is close
by car or bike (there is a path following the coast) but I never visited it
at night so I don't know what its restaurants are like, although one of the
other couriers said it was good. There is a small supermarket there as well.
There are no Supertents on this site.

L'Atlantique, Beg Meil (pronounced beg-may) (KC and EC)
    http://www.keycamp.co.uk/index.cfm/fuseaction/campsites.resortoverview/mastercode/132/ver/2.cfm
Beg Meil is another lovely site with lots of stuff for kids, all the kids
clubs, a great pool complex and mini golf! The site is laid out in avenues
in alphabetical order, which makes it really easy to find our way around. As
I was doing demontage on this site (taking everything down for the winter)
it was closed when we got there so I can't tell you about the bar or
anything like that. It is a nice 10 min walk to the beach and the town of
Beg Meil is great for restaurants and food shopping, but not within walking
distance and the site itself feels a bit isolated in that sense. Quite a few
couriers here (I think 5 or 6 for each company)

    St Laurent, Fouesnant (KC)
    http://www.keycamp.co.uk/index.cfm/fuseaction/campsites.resortoverview/mastercode/337/ver/2.cfm
My campsite! This is a fairly quiet campsite, very popular with families
although there is no longer a Keycamp kids club. Great entertainment in the
evenings in the bar, which also has a restaurant and a takeaway. The site is
set out on terraces and is small for a Keycamp site, so it is very good for
children if they worry about getting lost. This site does have Supertents
and the shower facilities are brilliant, and very close to the Keycamp tents
(if they are still in the same place) The site feels very safe as there is a
security guard at night to ensure the rule of quiet after 11pm and there is
a strict speed limit around the site. The nearby towns (Quimper, Concarneau,
Benodet, Fouesnant) are all worth visiting no matter where you stay. There
is direct access to the beach here as well, but it is only small and the
path itself is kind of on the cliff edge! On the other side of the site is
another path leading off to the coast, which is fun to explore. You can hire
canoes from the campsite reception to take out on the estuary when the tide
is in. Swimming pool has slides and is right next to the bar.

La Pointe St Gilles, Benodet (KC and EC)
    http://www.keycamp.co.uk/index.cfm/fuseaction/campsites.resortoverview/mastercode/130/ver/2.cfm

The biggest and busiest of these sites, loads of facilities and a really fun
place to be. Is also very close to the centre of Benodet where there are
bars and restaurants and great beach. Shop etc were closed here when I was
there as well. There is a big team of couriers looking after you as well.

    Hope this helps

    Also:

on the website, if they book in the next 3 days it counts as early booking

    Amy says:
i forgot to add at the end, tell them to do the linen hire, you get sheets and pillowcases and its loads better than taking your own
    Amy says:
and if the little one still has a cot, you can hire those too

  • We've been all over Europe with Eurocamp over the past 12 years or so. As mentioned before, Eurocamp and Keycamp are owned by the same company but Eurocamp is cheaper. Can thoroughly recommend them. If you save Tesco vouchers, these can be used again Siblu (European division of Haven Holidays and very similar to Eurocamp). Do shop around - also, if you look on the internet, varying your departure date by one day can get you into a cheaper price band, so it's worth playing around a bit.

We went on a Keycamp holiday in 2004. We stayed at the campsite at Conguel (Britanny) and really enjoyed it - great pools, just opposite a beautiful beach, pony trekking nearby and lovely walks. The reps were friendly.

The two downsides I suppose were that it was a long drive from St Malo, and the pitches are quite small so you do have to get on with your neighbours. having said that I would gladly go again.

We went in the first two weeks of September, which was MUCH cheaper than August, and also the best weather of the whole summer.
