Oak Furniture Land - veneer?

Hi! We bought a table and chairs from oak furniture land about a year and a half ago and have been really pleased with them.
However I've just noticed a chip in one of the chairs and it very clearly looks like a layer of veneer.
I've sent them an email - do we have any rights? More importantly does this mean my gorgeous table is veneer too?

*If* you are correct, then they have at the very least breached the trade descriptions act.

"All of our cabinet furniture is made from 100% solid hardwood from top to toe; veneer, plywood and chipboard are never used. All drawers are made with dovetail joints for added durability. Each drawer and cabinet back are made from solid hardwood; there is no skimping on any part of the furniture. As our adverts say - There's no veneer in 'ere. "
What you should do first is to get in touch with them and see what they say. Do you have a picture you can upload for people here to give an opinion on ?0 -
If they were using veneer they would have been caught long before now.0

I'm trying to work out how to add one! To my mind it should be solid wood with lacquer/polish on top, but there is a clear 'peelable' layer?0

Upload the photo to a hosting site, such as Photobucket or similar ... then post a link in a reply here.
If the forum doesn't let you post a link, change http to hxxp. (Do not try to use IMG or URL forum tags)0 -

Please don't post images ... they can often be HUUUUUUGE and break the forum. A link is just fine for those that wish to look.
Edit: Link deleted on request, even though OP still has a broken image in her post that takes people to the same place.0 -
Sorry! Just realised the link has my name in it so was trying to just post the photo0

I can't see them using veneer in that situation anyway. I am wondering if it is the join of 2 pieces of timber and is a bit thin at that point. They do not use "solid" oak but laminate block made from smaller pieces of timber - proper solid oak would be too expensive. In fact looking at one of my chairs that is made in a similar fashion I can see on the side face where the wood tapers and the front face shows a line between the 2 pieces.0
