Could someone please explain to me how a Hotmail account, gets registered with Google as the account to use on an Android phone ?
I had assumed that *.gmail.com or *.google.com would be necessary - but was surprised to find that ANY email address (Hotmail being just an example) would work .....
Is Google THAT powerful that it has access to all other emails or am I being paranoid ?

My question is do we really have a choice here? I mean, if we are not using that then what else we could be using? I am bit confused over this, as I never thought about privacy over this because it’s always only choice for me.0 -
Protonmail, Tutanota, Fastmail to name a few. Lava bit was good until it was shut down.

Outlook.com is best, fast and better than gmail. As they gmail goes through your messages for "google searches".
Or buy your own domain/hosting for £10 a year and have a personal email. mail@yourname.co.uk0 -
