Laptop cursor malfunction

For the last few months, about 80% of the time whenever i use the touchpad on my Packard Bell laptop, the cursor flies all over the monitor screen which means trying to navigate to a part of the screen to click on something is very hard an annoying. Sometimes i can even move the cursor by not even touching the pad, i only have to have my finger close to the pad and the cursor moves.

Done a check of laptop with Antivirus and Malwarebytes and all come back clean. Anyone else had this issue and resolved it?

Sounds like the touchpad is faulty.
For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.

Did you upgrade to Windows 10 at that time? I've found with both of my laptops that the touchpad drivers are not as good as they were on Win 7 / Win 8.1.
  • This used to happen to my laptop when it was warm or overheating. I found that using a hair dryer on cold for 20 seconds, (directed at the touch-pad) resolved the problem temporarily. I ended up taking the laptop apart to clean out all the dust and debris. After that it was able to stay cooler and thus prevent my touch-pad going haywire.
