I am off to Puerto Plata and have heard that even when using plug adaptors, chargers for mobile phone and digital camera will not work. Is this true and any suggestions?

My phone charger worked fine in puerto plata. however, other appliances such as hairdryer were pretty useless - i'd have been better blowing on my hair to dry it0

yes they do work they just longer and other appliances like hair straighteners are less effective.0
