Littlewoods chasing me

Hello,
I ordered a product last year via Littlewoods because it was cheaper than most other websites and offered next day delivery. I went on a 12 months no interest plan... Because why not
I am very careful with things like this and will only spend the amounts I can pay back, The item was £279, I made a payment via their website 3 weeks prior to when it was due and the website displayed "Thanks for your payment" and then that was it, I believed the item was paid off. I didn't check my bank statements "I should of though" and 4 months down the line I noticed an email from them.
Opened it up and they are now demanding £650 off me and £220 in two weeks for the first payment, I 100% paid for the item via their website and I verified with my bank and they said no payment attempts were made by Littlewoods (Shop Direct) .
I have had endless phone calls and emails with them explaining the situation and they are pretty much just calling me a lier, I have said to them paying the full amount of the item would not be an issue and I am happy to make the full payment now, They refused and said I MUST pay £650.
I don't want to pay £650 for an item that only cost £279 and especially when I know I paid for it through there website before it was due.
I told them that they are stupid if they believe a website works 100% of the time 24/7... They are still having none of it.

I can't work it out from your post, but does the transaction appear on your bank statement or not? If so, can't you just show it to them?
If not, then you haven't "100% paid for the item" - you've "0% paid for the item"
What are the extra charges for? Is it the interest that has now been added on because you missed the interest-free deadline? My Debt Free Diary I owe:

Sorry it was not written properly, I've gone to make a payment and their website displayed thanks for your payment and now a few months down the line I checked my account to see the payment wasn't taken and they are asking for £650.
The interest is because I've missed the interest free period and missed payments that have occurred without me knowing, I ignore most emails from Littlewoods because they are usually marketing emails, I was under the impression it was paid off.
I just don't want to pay because their website failed, I don't have much to stand on , only the transaction of me moving money from one account to the other to make my payment.0 -

Ok,
If you made a payment, then you must have proof in the form of bank statements.
From the tone of your post I think you realise that payment the did not go through for some reason, as it would be an easy job to check your statements and provide proof of payment to Littlewood's.
Whatever the reason for this, you are now in the position of having to pay interest on this item.
You can either continue to dispute this with Littlewoods in writing, see if they will accept a compromise, (on the phones you get monkeys, when you write you get the organ grinder), you can pay up and put it down to experiance, or you can ignore it completely and when it eventually gets sold on in the distant future, make the DCA that picks it up a silly offer to settle.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. After the interest free period ends, if you have not settled the account in full, then interest at a silly rate of approx 39.9% starts to be applied, hence the Hugh rise in price.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. There is no proof because their website made no attempt to make a payment. I should of checked my statement but it was all being made during the period of losing my daughter so I was all over the place and once a website says a payment has been made you expect it to come out , especially when you have more than enough money in there to cover it.0

As I have posted above then, they are your options to deal with this.
You might want to explain the circumstances in your letter.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. As you have no proof of your attempt to pay, I'm not sure you're going to get much further with them on that.
I think your best chance would be to explain to them in writing that the payment became due at the same time that you lost your daughter (my condolences), offer to pay the original £279 in full and final settlement and request that the interest be removed. My Debt Free Diary I owe:

I hope you can get this sorted. Hopefully, they will understand because of the circumstances and at least reduce the costs.
I know this is of no use now but when I get the thank you for payment message I take a picture of it. There is a way to get a screen shot but I can never remember how to do it.Aiming to make £7,500 online in 20220
