One of the main reasons that I moved from Newcastle to London because London properties were particularly (comparatively) cheap, there wasn't any luck about that, it was a conscious decision. I was already wealthy before the base rate was reduced to 0.5%, that was merely the icing on the cake.

lol at the boomer who got his properties at the absolute lowest price/earnings ratio and now so proud of himself gaining millions with decades of debt expansion and government + central bank support. Well it would be a miracle not to be a millionaire with that.

Unfortunately not everyone is as lucky as you've been, todays prices a "bit" higher in london than in newcastle... It's pure luck, being born 20 years earlier than others...

In the interests of truth what's your username on HPC?

It's obvious that's your normal home. The signs are there - petty jealousy, assumptions that being leveraged to the hilt is normal and everyone else got lucky.

What is your username on property118.com?

It seems you think its ok that today's young people need to make 3-4 times more effort to buy the same house and pay off the nice profit of the boomers.
Plus pay the 9K uni tution fee.

Are you a landlord milking even your own children for money or what?

Wow! When I said that you come across as being bitter, I hit the nail on the head.

That's all the reasons you have?
Nice reasoning from an uni lecturer...

    Tosh.
Not everyone born 20 years earlier is a multi-millionaire so it isn't "pure" luck.

I do feel young people have it harder, but young people in the UK are extremely lucky on a global scale so should get on with it and not feel bitter as they've won the lottery by comparison.
My observation is those who've done well (like Martin Lewis for example) have not spent hours on forums listening to tosh. They've focussed and worked hard and maybe had some luck as well, but luck alone does not bring success, otherwise every boomer would be a multi-millionaire which patently isn't then case.

Reasons for what? You aren't making any sense! You didn't ask me about having reasons for doing something in your previous post.

Apart from a prehistoric account at the Motley Fool the only nonsense I post on the internet is here. I'm neither a boomer or landlord not that I have an axe to grind with either - then again I'm not looking for someone to blame for my failures.

So what's your username on HPC?

It isn't easy to get your first property, my wife and I talk about it often, how hard it is these days. I have loaned a couple of friends deposits to help them buy in the past.

It is quite surprising how many of my part time dissertation students manage to buy a property (and in the South East). It usually comes up in conversation when they are telling me how hard it is, to work 4 days a week, study one day a week, refurbish a property, and some of them have children too. I usually say that I couldn't have managed all that, and that I'm glad that I studied full time for my degree.

    Wow talk about bitterness.....

I'm 30, bought 5 yrs ago in the NW. interest rate was 5% initially paid around £130k. No help from mum and dad, just saved hard for 2 years for the deposit.

Am I over leveraged? Do I hate "young people"? Do I deserve to see a HPC?

Property is very reasonable IMO. But if you want to live in one of the most prosperous and lively capitals in the world then you best get saving.

Really? Every boomer who's bought in London for peanuts is very close to being a millionaire, as the average house costs almost a million in London.

You say don't spend time on forums, well the problem is not really the forum posts, the problem is that houses are going up in my area at 100K per year. Let's calculate how much money you would need to save up that much, 100K per year savings, that's more than 8 grand per month + you live somewhere, eat something, let's say net 10 grand per month.

That is 210K per year salary just to keep up with the inflation.

That is the problem, not the forum posts.
