Totally confused , tax credits letter covering 1 day saying i owe them £2500

I received a tax credits award today for 6/04/15/ to 6/04/15

we paid you £5 for 1 day you owe us £2500 ( ish)

last week i got a letter from concentrix just saying the information they hold does not match what i gave them .

So after getting todays letter I ring HMRC as concentrix are constantly engaged. HMRC says my credits have been terminated as i did not provide information on residency when asked in june.
they said this would be information on a partner. ( I do not have a partner , I live with my parents. I see my boyfriend on weekends but we do not share any bills or funds, i have no possessions at his house and nothing registered there )

I was not asked about a partner I was asked about self employment and to send bank statements and accounts. which i did.

HMRC said well maybe they pressed the wrong button when giving a reason. nothing to do with us. call concentrix
but they won't answer !

According to the letter today my income went up by £5043 in 2015 - 2016 so i'm also confused about the disregard ( i'd actually declared £800 less than that but they don't say how they came to that figure) and how much i would qualify for / have to pay back if they hadn't cancelled it completely.
& the 25% over payment thing

They are right, you will need to keep trying concentrix.
  • Why can't they just put everything clearly in a letter.
  • 5 phone calls later with various reasons given and finally when I have a 3rd party adviser call they give a full reason. My initial check was on income , so i sent off the details asked .They then opened a second enquiry into a partner. they did not mention this !

They had decided my half brother who hasn't lived here in years but apparently still has some links to my parents is my partner.
When i first called they said it was just an issue with bank statements and would be fine if i resent them, I'm glad I decided to go through a 3rd party and finally get the parts they missed out !
