Car part exchange dealer wants more money!

It's just really disappointing as I hate the rigmarole of changing my cars and then negotiating and never really knowing if they are giving you a good deal!
I was really happy with there initial service and even the price of the car I didn't really barter massively as it was priced competitively according to my research!
The part exchange figure he came up with even after I told him about the sensor fault and scrape to wheel arch! The car has 11 months MOT and four recent new tyres! It was in good condition bar this scrape!
It's been 1 week since they took it! And first I heard of it was today!
I don't want to be 'blacklisted' by them as a future customer because I genuinely was honest and it came up as a shock to me! And he did mention they were going to send part exchange to auction.
So I don't know why he's saying now it's going to cost them up to £500 to repair.
I know I could have it repaired privately for about £2000 -
Oh god, the exclamation marks are back...0

Trust me, no car dealership in the land will "blacklist" you from taking money off you in the future & losing a sale worth thousands over a PX which will just be going to auction anyway.
Even if they do, who cares? Thousands of dealerships out there who can and will offer better service.0 -
There car dealers...id be checking my wallet wasnt lifted and the wheels are not bald...Car dealers are like Drug dealers...all they care about is the £££ in there pocket.0

They have no avenue to claim these funds from you. As previously stated, it's likely that your previous vehicle has been sent to an auction and is long gone. This wafer thin threat is, as usual, a juvenile attempt to intimidate you and stop you pursuing a valid grievance.
In the main, statements about the bulb being ware and tare are correct. That said, if the vehicle has been purchased within a week or two (you only say "I recently did a long distance car part exchange") and the bulb forms (or maybe does not - depending on how punchy you're feeling) part of the MOT (please look at the DfT website for more info as not all do) then I suggest you go back to them and say ('threaten') that the MOT was never valid as the bulb was always broken and you feel you need to go to the DVSA and report them for passing a vehicle that was in fact not road worthy. It's only their word against yours.
Before doing this please also read up on rules & regs about MOTs, insurance and the hefty fines that accompany vehicles that are not MOTed or road worthy. This might be a can of worms not worth opening for the sake of a few quid... even though the principle is probably the underlying driver here.
As most of these people are spineless toadies I suggest you say you are happy to take the day off to come down and see him personally to resolve the issue. Give him the option them paying a dealer/garage local to you to do the work and charge it to them, saving you the money, grief, tyre tread, etc... and saving them the pleasant experience of a face-to-face with you.
Also, just for the record, it is not valid for a supplier (in this case the dealer) to hold your property in lieu of payment - just in case this scenario crops up.
