best oven cleaner

recently moved and now have one of those ovens that is also a grill which seems to make it smell worse than separate oven/grills or maybe it wasn't properly clean...

anyway...looking for the best product to get to clean it, seen lots of different ones in different shops/ online so thought I'd ask here for a recommendation

    I find this one best:

    http://www.wilko.com/kitchen-cleaning-products/oven-pride-complete-oven-cleaner-500ml/invt/0218572

(available from most shops - not just Wilko).

It's great if you have messy oven racks too as it comes with a big bag you put the racks in, then you put some of the cleaner in there and seal it up, then use the rest of the bottle on the oven itself.

Used it for years. We now have a self-cleaning oven but I still buy this just to clean the racks that have to be removed for the self-cleaning cycle!

thanks, are you supposed to use the full bottle for one clean?

pretty sure that's the one I saw at tesco for £3 so will give it a try!

Once a year we get the oven cleaner guy round. Sounds very non MSE, but quite frankly compared to a couple of hours of precious leisure time lost, donning the gloves, breathing in noxious fumes, scrubbing and swearing etc followed by another hour of cleaning up the mess you've made, all for a job that you're not really satisfied with, £70 for someone with some really beefy chemicals who takes an hour and leaves the oven and hob utterly spotless seems an utter bargain.

The rest of the time the oven just gets a soapy water wipe down.

Someone like this http://www.ovencleaningman.com/ - not who we use (wrong area) but just the first from a google for 'oven cleaning man'

white wine vinegar and bicarb of soda works on our oven every time. No harsh horrible smells and not very much elbow grease required! There are various tutorials if you google it :)

    +1.

For the price, a once a year clean that leaves it like new is well worth it.

When we moved into our home last year, the oven was filthy. I didn't look like it had ever been cleaned. Seemed to get better results from Oven Mate (Lakeland) rather than Oven Pride but either way, took about 4 attempts in total before it was acceptably clean.

Knowing what I know now, I'd get a pro in. And also check ovens for when I buy my "forever" home.
