URGENT – Don't lose your GMX Mail account(s) TOMORROW !

Hi all,
Those of you with GMX Mail accounts may be about to lose them completely, along with everything stored in them.
You need to act FAST.
If, like I, you normally access your GMX Mail account(s) via a mail application, such as Mac Mail, instead of directly online, you will probably be unaware that, on 1 September, GMX Mail's UK, French and Spanish service supplier will change from 1&1 Mail & Media, Inc., in Kansas, to 1&1 Mail & Media GmbH, in Germany.
(This is probably a good thing: they will then be run under strict German privacy laws instead of being subject to the Patriot Act in America which permits unrestricted snooping and censure by the NSA.)
However, unless you log into your accounts directly, each one individually, and agree to the new T&Cs (by clicking on a button) before the switchover, your account will simply be obliterated on 1 September by 1&1 Mail & Media, Inc, and will be gone forever.
So, as soon as possible but at the very latest by 31 August, go directly to your GMX Mail account(s) online and log in.
When you do, you will be confronted with this message:
Dear GMX Member,
In the past, the GMX Service was provided to you by 1&1 Mail & Media Inc.
After August 31st, 2016 the service can be provided to you by 1&1 Mail & Media GmbH in order to ensure the high level of performance and data protection you are used to.
What you can do at this point is to click on “I agree” which will confirm that you have reviewed and accept the Terms and Conditions of 1&1 Mail & Media GmbH as of now.
If you do not agree, 1&1 Mail & Media Inc. will cancel your contract by August 31st, 2016. Your GMX account including all your data will then be irrevocably deleted as outlined in the Terms and Conditions currently applying to your GMX Service.
Your GMX Team
<button> I agree
<button> No, I do not agree
Please agree to the Terms and Conditions of the future provider of the GMX Services, 1&1 Mail & Media GmbH, to be able to continue using your GMX account after August 31st, 2016.
It is perhaps worth pointing out that in the French version the second paragraph reads "sera" (will be) whereas the English version reads, "can be provided to you".
Also, that there's no indication as to whether or not the service will continue to be provided free. (But, equally, there's nothing to suggest that it won't.)
Anyway. get your butts over to GMX directly, this weekend, and tick the "Agree" box – otherwise, you'll lose your GMX mail account(s) completely.

Good info and many thanks.
I usually collect my gmx.com email via pop3 and seldom log on to the actual web page. Therefore hadn't seen the news of change.
Have done so now and confirmed I agree with the change.
Grateful for the heads up!0 -
Thanks
No notification from gmx - looks like a sneaky way to remove the accounts of people who don't use webmail so don't see their adverts.0 -
^^ Thats just what i was thinking0

I have three GMX accounts and have received no information about the proposed changes. I'm pretty angry that they could have just shut my accounts without even telling me about it.0

I too have three gmx accounts. One received an email but neither of the other two did.
I thought it was some sort of phishing scam, wanting me to click and log on so they could get my password.
That's why I ignored it. Anyway I've now logged in and accepted the terms and conditions...did anyone read them?
Thanks for the reminder.0 -
You may have received a notification, but I didn't, so I don't think I'm off the mark at all.
If it was correct, then they value my account above yours, which I doubt is the case....:DDrinking Rum before 10am makes you

Logged in to find 7 years worth of junk messages, but no notification or T&C box to check.
I tried turning off ABP & NoScript, but still nothing. No great loss if it does go I guess. I haven't used it for about 5 years judging by the messages in it.0
