Hi a little struck on what to do next . I'm a diabled person i Booked a honeymoon holiday with thomson in may 2016 going on there advise we went to tenerife we told them no hills, no stairs.they recommended that the south of tenerife was the best place to go they even picked out a hotel. Unfortunately this hotel was on top of a steep hill the rep paid half for a mobility scooter but it still it ruined our holiday as we could not use the pool as vertical steps. We have contacted thomson and all they will offer us is£60 for the other half we paid for mobility scooter and £90 goodill we have tried several times to get them to up there offer but have refused were do we go from here. Many thanks

I'm surprised that a travel agent or tour operator recommended Tenerife above other places as a disabled-friendly destination - it's a volcanic island and hence very rocky and hilly! Yes, there are areas which are flatter, and properties which have been made accessible, but compared to places like Fuengirola and Roquetas in southern Spain, Tenerife is much harder to negotiate with a wheelchair or walking aids.
From what you say, I think the mistake lies with the travel agent selling you the holiday (as they failed to adequately match your needs with a destination) rather than the tour operator who supplied the package (Thomsons). Have you complained to the travel agent you booked with?0 -
The following 'sticky' thread of the Trip Advisor travelling with Disabilities forum is well worth a read between now and the next time you book a holiday...
