Veritas R8 home alarm problem

After having set the house alarm on exit and then entering my code to 'unset' it when re-entering, I am now getting what seem like random bleeps from my alarm system and now have to actually do a reset as well from the control keypad to stop the bleeps.
The electric supply recently failed and made the alarm system go into tamper alarm mode. At the time, I reset the alarm system on the control keypad and all seemed OK. I've now noticed that the 'Unset' light indicator on the control keypad is constantly flashing. Secondly, the red indicator light on the actual system panel isn't lit any more and I'm sure it was previously.
Is there a simple way to get the system right again without calling out a very expensive engineer ?

Thanks for your help, but I've already looked in both the installation manual and the instruction book. Neither tell you what can go wrong and how to correct it (unless I am missing something).

You could try a full power down reset by entering the engineers code and disconnecting the mains supply and the battery for a few minutes before reconnecting.

Not sure of your exact system (and haven't looked at thoughtfully provided manuals yet) but just a quick possibility. Have you checked the main stand-by battery, it is a rechargeable and could be on it's last legs. I had a similar issue with my neighbours alarm after a power cut and I eventually discovered a reset procedure that is not in the manual. Try looking on some of the burglar alarm forums, there are some helpful chaps and chapesses on there.
