Slacken off the fork bolts (either side of the headstock) and see if you can twist them straight. A low-speed spill might pull the forks out of alignment, which is easily corrected, or bend the bars, which is a relatively cheap fix. I wouldn't expect an impact like that to bend the frame, especially on a bike with a fairing. Bikes with fairings tend to slide along rather than dig in, and the plastics take the damage. If the plastics are still off, look for wrinkled paint around the headstock area or anywhere else that took a hit. Ask the guy to show you exactly where the frame is bent, because I would doubt if it is. If it *is* bent, then economically at least the bike is probably a write-off.If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0

Thanks everyone.
I now have the bike back. They didn't think it was a ridiculous or dangerous idea to just ride it as it is, which is reassuring.
The forks/yolks/etc are not bent at all, just the handlebars. Which leads me to strongly suspect the frame was bent when I bought it as it has obviously been dropped/crashed at some point.
So I think I'll just keep it for now, maybe replace the bars. Is this a sensible idea?0 -
Follow Dellboy's instruction to realign the forks

I'd be astonished if the frame had bentChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0
