No claims discount lapse

Hello,
My insurance lapsed 18 months ago, and I know I will be returning to the UK in 12 months, after which time my previous no claims (5 years worth) will, according to most companies , be expired (2 years without insurance).
As a 26y/o male, with 4 points on his license (3 years old as of Jan 17'), I imagine insurance without no claims would be reasonably expensive, therefore my question is should I get comprehensive insurance on a relatives car to ensure my NCD doesn't expire.
Thanks
Jack

You can only usually insure a car that doesn't belong to you if it is owned by a spouse or, at a push, a common law partner. You will find it very difficult to find somewhere that will insure a relatives car in your name.
In my opinion I believe the only options are to find an insurer that will accept NCB up to 3 years old (they exist, you just pay a bit more than if it was 2 years old) or have to take the hit and start again.0
