They have bought up a lot of old Avant Credit accounts, that Avant disposed of dirt cheap to raise some cash.

They will have been cheap. Avant were doing F&Fs at 17% to borrowers!

I'd ignore the muppets at asset collections or whatever they call themselves, do a complaint re mis-selling to lending stream a la Debt Camel, and refer the result of that complaint to FOS
Hi Fatbelly,
Can you tell me what is a mis-selling complaint? I had debt to Avant Credit and the sold is to Asset collections and they demand payment in full.
I have complaint Avant credit to Financial Ombudsman for irresponsible lending. Do I have any change that my debt to go back to Avant and deal with them. Is that means mis-selling?
Thanks

Hi guys today I received a email from Asset Collections stating they were starting a county court claim against me, I have ignored them and put off there threats for a while now but this email does seem like they are now ready to play hard ball. In the email it said I would receive a County claims pack in the post, I don't know if this is a scare tactic to get me to ring up now and pay in full. I am clueless to all this and it has got me really worried. What do you guys think. Thanks0

Most likley what it says in the email.
They should send a letter before action first though.
If it is a claim form, you will need to deal with it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I was hounded by these clowns for more than 3 years via email, I received various threats of court action and several reduced settlement offers, I never acknowledged them once, after a period of about 3 months where I had no emails from them I got one saying that the account had been closed and I owed nothing, that was several months ago and I have heard nothing since.
Moral of the story, don't acknowledge debt collection agencies unless you receive legal documentation via post, if they cannot enforce the debt they will give up in the end.
