Recent Trip to Spain (Santiago) for your information!

Hi guys,

Thought I would fill you in on my recent trip to Santiago de Compostela.

I booked these flights back in March for the 1p including taxes. I must admit I rushed straight into booking these flights and had never even heard of Santiago! Once I looked it up on the net I thought, OMG what have I booked. Being a family with young children used to going to the Costa's it was not normally the type of thing we would go for, and even considered not going. Anyway we did, found a nice hotel on the net and booked it and on Saturday we jetted off!.

We landed in Santiago airport about 6.30pm (there time) and it was boiling, still bikini sun bathing weather even at that time!.

We paid 16.50 euros in a taxi to get to our hotel. We were aware that there is a Ryanair bus that takes you into Santiago for a couple of euro's but with having the kids we decided to take a taxi.

The hotel, Monte de Gozo was more of a holiday village (a little like the spanish version of Butlins). It was lovely. The staff were all very friendly and the accomodation was just right for us. There was a lovely park for the kids to play on and we could sit right next to the park in a bar and watch them with our vino!

The next day we walked into Santiago town (which is a good walk!!!) but a taxi in is only 7 euros. And it was lovely. A real eye opener for us. So many museums and places to look around. Like I say not the norm what we would go for but definately broadened our horizens. I would say try it guys, its great!!!

Oh and Ryanair flights were great nothing to complain about there, but boy the security at Liverpool airport was very tight!!!!

I hope this information is of some use to someone and if anyone would like anymore information on this please feel free to ask!

Love Stacey xx

    aww that sounds lovely :)

    glad you went and enjoyed
  • Thank you for all that info, I paid for mum and dad, and their two friends to go there at the end of this month, (total price for return flights - 8p), and feel better about them going now.

In what way was the security tight at Liverpool Airport?

    Thanks again, John
  • It wasnt really bad, just the worst I have ever known it to be, if that makes sense lol. We had to queue for about 25 minutes to get through the security xray machines, you should take this into account and allow enough time to get through there instead of spending time eating or shopping. We only just made it really coz we stopped off for a burger king before going through. People were being asked to take off their shoes and place them on the conveyor belt and even my two really small children (age 4 and 8) had to take off their cardigans and put those through the machine. My husband had to practically strip off and keep walking through the machine, our bags were searched after they had been through the conveyer x-ray machine and then just when we thought we could get dressed and go through another man standing at the end searched husband again. Oh and we had stuff taken off us, shaving foam, mouth wash and toothpaste!

As for Santiago, we will definately be going again!!!!
