What a kerfuffle you're having csarina, sorry to hear it's all a mess. At least you're doing right by your OH.
Left here in fog and rain, drive to Glasgow was glorious as was the weather by the time I got there. I was certainly over-dressed for Glasgow, not often I can say that. My nephew is opening a new business venture in Hope Street which is taking shape nicely. Last time I saw it the place was a shell and the last time I saw him was when we in Melbourne for his brother's funeral. Glad we're past that.
Three lovely new tops 'jumped' into my shopping bag:o:o and they are just right for autumn nights. At least that's what I keep telling myself.
Back to Glasgow tomorrow though I think the weather won't be as kind then. Now I think it's time for getting the ice out of the freezer and the gin out of the cupboard and the tonic out of the fridge - all lined up and ready for action.0 -
Csarina - have you contacted AgeUK - I didn't know but they offer services to anyone over 50 and can come and help you in a number of ways, making changes to your home to help, ensuring you are claiming the right benifits you are entitled too.
A colleague of mine recently contacted them about her husband, as she was concerned about his recovery after an operation - they were so helpful to them.
Sorry if I,ve covered old ground XNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Thanks Island Maid, I have been on to them, waiting for a call back, its really someone to sit with OH whilst I go shopping and take the quilt group once a month, I do not need much other help at the moment. The nurses are coming in twice a day to make sure he is ok. I am also waiting for the physio people to contact me.
The gas people got the main in, the chaps will come by to put the soil etc back and repair the pavement and road. We have to wait for the plumbers to come and sort out the heating. Tuesday next week they should be coming to start the conversion to a wet room. OH's sister is threatening to come next week.......royal visit...... she will have to put up with the noise and mess, I am not cleaning up till they have finished.
OK its almost time for bake off......0 -
Oh Csarina you poor luv what a palaver you are going through, I do sympathise honey. You give them hell honey ,you shouldn't have to have all this worry. Let your is-in-law whistle Dixie, and fit in with you,not the other way around xx
Well today's plan was Shanklin, but when we got there the 'doggy end ' of the beach was jam-packed full of cars and not a parking spot to be had ,so we toddled off back to Yaverland and found a nice spot three minutes from the beach in the over-spill car park.
But by jiminy it was pretty hot 29c. We had brought the sun-shade umbrella that one of the boys found in a cupboard ,but when we opened it up there was the brolly bit but no stick to mount it on so it was more of an igloo than a brolly, still the little dog was shaded at least
DD walked up to the local cafe/shop near to the beach and they had sold out of sun brolly, but the lovely lass in the shop said if you want we have one out back you can rent for the day£2.00 plus a £5 deposit ,brilliant It was one of those that you get through the middle of a cafe table and we sat on the beach under the brolly with Walls ice cream written all over it:):)
But it stopped me from burning and gave us a bit of shade, excellent value for most of the day for a couple of pounds and we didn't have to try to find a spot for it in the car.
We have a pop up tent that we take with us so we put the picnic stuff in there and at a pinch the boys can take it turns to use it as a changing room(it has a zip-up front )
All four boys spent most of the time in the water as did DD and my son-in-law. I'm not keen on sea swimming, but I don't mind a paddle for my toes.Apart from the £2.00 for the brolly we only bought ice creams so another inexpensive day out. All the boys are going nut brown and DD is getting a beautiful shade of caramel. I'm very fair skinned, so I cover myself in Uvistat and go a more dark brick red:):)
Last day tomorrowbut its been a wonderful holiday and we have been very lucky with the weather. As I sit typing this I can hear the fireworks going off at Blackgang up at the top of the hill, young Mikey has definitely fallen in love with horses and keeps nipping off with an apple of two for the two horses over the field. They see him coming and come and eat out of his hand so gently and his face is a picture and he's so chuffed that they seem to look for him (I think its the apples they look for,but these two animals have made his holiday)
isn't it great when a child finds something so ordinary, yet to him so amazing.:)
We are booked in for a meal at Niton tomorrow night and the pub is so doggy friendly the dogs have a menu as well as the humans
Hope what ever you have been doing today you have had a good time doing it ,forget the housework, even just sitting in the sun with a cuppa will cheer you up.Winter will soon be here so make the most of the lovely weather if you can
Cheers chums

Islandmaid I have had nothing but kindness and courtesy from all of the Island people I have met.The shopkeepers go out of their way if they can to help and they actually smile and talk to you
the best wasthe smashing council lady at Newport crem. last Sunday who went out of her way to find and show us where exactly my late-in-laws ashes were scattered and took us across to show us as well so we could lay some flowers for my late Ma-in-law as its 30 years since her passing. Kindness and helpfulness to a couple of complete strangers was very much appreciated. No wonder DD would move here tomorrow if she could ,she says its how life used to be when she was little, and apart from perhaps a bit more traffic, and a few more shops life itself hasn't altered that much in 40 odd years. Far more relaxing a way of life.
