Use legal cover
Options
Probably been a bit naive as never had an accident before but last wed a man in his work pick up type van drove past my car and took wing mirror off.
Admitted liability but told me his work would phone by thursday.
I tried to give benefit of doubt but that will be 7 days now .
When I phoned insurance they advised because my excess is 250 , maybe best to use my legal cover and claim back costs from other party ? Anybody any experience of this ?
Feel they've kind of took the mick a bit , I know where man stays but called round Tues and no answer although van parked up. In drama of it all I forgot to take his name.
Do have a witness who saw it and witness heard him saying it was his fault , just want it fixed .

Presumably repairs will be less than £250, which is why you have been advised not to claim.
(If you claim off your insurance, then you would still have to pay the full cost of the repair and then get it back off the third party as an uninsured loss)
So follow their advice and get your legal cover to deal with this for you. (You get the repair done and get them to pursue the third party to reimburse you)
Or find out the insurer of the van and contact them direct and ask them to do the repairs for you0 -
Might be worth seeing how much a new mirror will be before deciding what action to take. I found that someone had broken the wing mirror of my 107 the other day and when I looked on EBay, I could get a new one for £20 which took 15mins to fit. If it's that cheap, the chap might be happy to just give you the cash.0

Yeah and they said cause my cars 13 year old now as well . I know who he works for but don't know what insurance , van comes from a hire company.
I know I'll probably end up paying for it but I kind of grudge it knowing I never done anything wrong.
Mirror was hanging by the wires Nobbie so I just want it checked for peace of mind that there's nothing else0
