Prepaid card with auto-topup

Hi, this is my first post and couldn't find a better place for it.

Does anyone know of a prepaid payment card, ideally contactless, which provides the ability to auto-topup like you can with an Oystercard?

My office has just switched its canteen/vending machine payments system from being able to pay with our pass cards to having to pay with credit/debit cards and/or virtual wallet. It's almost as convenient but I don't want to find a zillion tiny payments on my statements every month and I don't want to give up the crisps and chocolate either!

Can you help?

Thanks, Jules

You need a card which has a sort code and account number for bank transfers. I auto top-up my Pockit card with a standing order.

Remember to quote your reference number in bank transfers and standing orders which may not be the same as your card number. This is the case with Pockit and the account number to quote is on the card below your name.

I think that OP was looking for card that would auto-topup after the available credit goes below a certain threshold, as it happens for TfL Oysters. My guess is the use case for it is a bit too specific.

The Revolut prepaid MasterCard now has the feature of auto top-up by debit card:

However, new users cannot use the feature immediately, before their 'risk profile' has been assessed, and minimum auto top-up is £100.

There are no relevant fees for your proposed use, and Revolut is also perfect for your foreign holidays and for any non-GBP online purchases.
    Evolution, not revolution
  • Thanks @Anthorn, that's not quite what I was after as @concernedSaver surmised but it's actually a good idea as my usage is likely to be fairly consistent.
