Can someone check this desktop spec for me

Hi all,

I used to be pretty knowledgeable about computer specs but ive been out the loop so i don't really know anymore. I need a new PC, mainly for browsing, word processing and so on, just basic things so i know a budget PC will do. However, i'm not a big gamer but i'd like the option of playing games plus a PC that is relatively fast. The games don't have to be played at their highest settings i just dont want something that will limit me to being unable to play any of the latest games.

Will this spec cover it? Also its only £280 which makes it ideal as i don't want to spend £700+ on desktops anymore?

AMD Quad Core 7650K
8GB ddr 3 ram
1TB hard drive
F2A68HM-HD2 Motherboard
8GB DDR3 1600mhz Performance Ram Onboard
AMD Radeon R7 Graphics EVGA 500w 80 Plus Certified 40a Single Rail Power Supply

Seems a pretty reasonable specification for the price and should do what you want it to for general use.

But that specification is really right on the minimum requirements for most modern games and you may struggle on some games even at the lowest settings. Plus in a year or so you won't be able to easily upgrade it because both the graphics card and processor would need changing.

The graphics card name is missing, R7 is the range but there should be another number to identify exactly what graphics card it is.

For such a low price you're not going to be able to get particularly great gaming performance however as long as you make sure the case has a full size slot then you've the option to fit a better graphics card later on.

    No. It's not particularly good.

Maybe look at the PALICOMP AMD Shockwave, for a better idea of how to build a budget gaming PC.

Pro: £20 more, but with 128GB SSD.
    Con: PSU may not decent.

BTW, AMD moving to AM4 socket soon. Personally won't go for FM2+ socket, but with your budget, not much option...

I don't know what game you are playing, but without GPU, i doubt if you are able to play latest game.
IMO, you should looking at £400 - 500 range if you want to play latest game.

OP did not contain OS. Assuming he already had one?

With AMD I would be so tempted to wait for Zen because they may* finally be able to compete with Intel again..

    * I know they have talked up new CPUs a few times before and failed but this architecture looks a lot more promising.

This already looks pretty cool, but graphics name as Johnmcl7 said seems to be missing, as per rest, I think everything is pretty much fine to what you said it to be. Last time when i went for Laptop, I told the seller about my gaming requirement and he suggest me best, so perhaps you can also take experts’ advice on this with putting forward your budget.
