With the discrepancy so small if just let it correct itself next year tbh.

For servicing yes, but for MOT I'd want to be correct, at least if the car had any value

When they called to say it was ready they said there wasn't too much wrong, and in fact had only done a small service as there was so little mileage since the last year.
As its simple to correct I would get it done. There may be extra servicing to do due to the extra miles.

This would be reason enough to get it amended. Find out if they serviced it based on 800 miles or the actual figure.

Also if you let it balance itself out next year that only works if you've done more than has been recorded. It'll look slightly odd if you show up next year having only done 5 miles or even show a negative number.

Get it done and tie up all the loose ends.

So when it is corrected next time it will show an extra 4K miles on top of the coming years mileage.

Incidentally, I recently bought a cheap car and it was originally advertised at only 40k; when I checked the MOT history, and was able to see that it had increased up to about 33k one year and then dropped back to 2k the next and from there increased to the 40k, so it had really done about 75k; I figured that the dashboard had been replaced in that year.
