If the life of one dear child is saved from being mauled to death, it is worth it TBH. It could be your dog too. No breed is saintlike except the doggies in the handbag maybe.

Dogs are not suited to a house or little garden, so they can go a bit mad sometimes.

I know there are responsible owners/masters, but still, dogs are dangerous, otherwise they would not need to be trained and controlled would they?

Mostly what you've written is purely your opinion, not fact
  • You'd have been better off putting this in the pets section. You wouldn't end up the with 'pets shouldn't be allowed' snoozefest

Practical advice would be to put something heavy along the fence so in the unlikely event he breaks the panels he won't actually be able to get through
    Something like this?

Glad you think children being killed by dogs in a garden/urban housing estate is a "snoozefest"

I'm sure their parents will be so happy to hear about fencing. It didn't help when all those little kiddies were eaten to death by dogs in a garden did it.

    So tell me the facts.

No child should be killed by a dog in a garden ever. That has happened numerous times now. So tell me how it will be stopped.

Bad owners? How to stop it. Tell me please.

Poor little kids mauled to death. Doesn't matter how good other owners are, every dog has that capacity to kill and maul to death.

Absolutely horrific. But we are not allowed to say that without being vilified are we.

A child's life IMO is worth far more than that of a pet.

I do think it might be worth posting this (or moving it) in the pets and pet care section, as there are more likely to be dog owners there who may have encountered similar problems.

I'd be speaking to fencing contractors.
There's nothing you can do other than build a barrier that's safe and can absorb impact. You can't expect anyone else to pay for it, unfortunately .

So if all us urban dwellers have to get rid of our pets, even though the majority are responsible and have done nothing wrong, are you suggesting a mass pet cull given the impossibility of all owners moving en masses to rural areas?

Don't bite, they're clearly just after a reaction.

Yes but not when the 'victim' isn't in the home!

    Where is that specified?

Thank you. I was beginning to worry that I was overreacting with some of the early replies. To me, when you get a pet, you are responsible for controlling it!

I'll look into my options when I get paid next, hopefully I can make it safe.

My first reply suggested putting up your own fence??....
