Unless you give us more information about WHERE you're trying to login to then this thread may as well die now ... we can't help unless you help us to help you.

Thanks for you reply but knowing what this account is will not help anyone to help me,the simple facts are....
*a six digit number is the ONLY way I can regain access
*there is no tech support on the account to help
*the 6 digit number is a random number assigned to me when I opened the account...which I've now lost

There are only 1000000 possible combinations so i could brute force this in seconds, depending on the response time of the host indicating incorrect password.

But unless you give us a clue as to what kind of account this is then i can help no further.
What kind of account this is will help immensly in providing a solution, you are providing an answer to yourself when you dont understand the question

Providing that information is the ONLY way that i can help you.

You see, you would need to write a script that went away and tried every possible combination of 6 digit numbers.
Without knowing what this account is, i couldnt determine what the best method to do this would be
ie using an API, or AJAX/javascript/Python ...
And again, the server might have a delay on letting you try again after an incorrect password was entered.
Unless i can see the login page then i cant help

    #suspects !!!!!! shame :)
  • Thanks Andy,I've PMed you
    Haha no !!!!!! shame

I would be Deeply Suspicious of any super-secret account which allows itself to be brute-forced...

Pity Banksy's Spy Booth painting has been destroyed...

    Hi

    A million?

I think we can rule out 6 of a kind, and consecutive, probably famous dates as well, his birthday and anyone he knows birthday, as they would have been recognised and recalled.

Leave in 211005 as it's the battle of Trafalgar and should never be forgotten, and VE Day etc etc. So probably 999980 combo's to try.

    :)

The time it would take to program those combinations out of the code would be longer than the fraction of a second that it would take the script to just test them anyway :D

Depending on how a system is setup up a brute force attack like might (should) not work. there are a few ways to stop them.
