Machine didn't issue a receipt. Woman behind us said she was a regular user of car park and it doesn't issue receipts. It uses the reg number?

We didn't know any different as not a regular user.

Possibly it was a machine where you need to input your car registration number? You didn't pay by card by any chance?

Castle and Umkomaas. With your help and Castle's pointer to the TFL site I think I can see what's happened.
    Thanks Doam too.
My husband was adamant he put £5 coins in machine and that is what he did.
Looking at the TFL site (thanks Castle) it says (Cockfosters) Cashless £5 and Cash £5.20 He's old nearly 80 and not techie minded and I think the new machine threw him and he saw £5 and put that amount in.
So we were 20 pence underpaid !

What's the next step for us?
What would we do without you wonderful helpful people.
Thank you and will be grateful for more advice.

  • Was Cockfosters . Hope you get sorted too.
  • As we believe the parking charge was underpaid by 20p can someone advise what we should do next ?

    Many thanks.
  • Should I send the blue text letter and add Doams insert - adapted to mention the 20p

Should I contact NCP at all ?

As previous post £5 was paid into machine and for cash should have been £5.20

Was £5 for card. Seems so trivial.
    Thanks for your advice.

Yes, send the blue text template appeal, but do not use the DoaM extra paragraph because I think we've bottomed-out the fact that you were 20p short. The extra paragraph is suggesting you had paid the full fee.

And yes, £100 charge for underpaying 20p is monstrous. Why don't you write to your MP and ask him/her for support. This excuse for trying to squeeze £100 from pensioners ranks up there with the worst, and should be reported to your MP - don't forget, they make the law (and need your votes)!

Maybe the Mayor of London may like to know what's happening with TFL and NCP.
  • Thanks for your advice Umkomaas

I'll do that and to the MP . We're both elderly and disabled.and besides the fine it's the shock of all this for 20p

The blue badge was clearly displayed and shows on their photo but I don't suppose NCP care about that.

I'll let you know how we get on.

Thanks too for everyone else who gave advice.

Castle I'll mention that in my email to MP. If he doesn't reply I'll send a letter.
