Asked to sign after using Asda CC contactless

Not had this before, in fact I've not been asked to sign since I've had chip and pin cards.
I used my Asda CC contactless in a local Nisa, like I do regularly. This time though, after using it I was asked to sign after. What made it interesting is I had not even signed my CC!
Who is actually asking me to sign in this instance? The merchant, the terminal, visa or Asda?

None. Whoever issues the Asda card.0

Sounds to me a merchant terminal issue - sometimes this happens to me in a SPAR shop.
Nothing to worry about.0 -
I was always under the impression there was 2 thresholds , once you have spent above £xx pound in a single place like a pub in multiple transactions , and then also a spend of £xx at multiple locations within a certain timeframeEx forum ambassador

I used Apple Pay last year at a Co-Op and had to sign the receipt.
I put it down to a terminal error; in my old job if the DSL connection was down it would print out a copy to be signed (unless the card was online authorisation only). It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. I've had this abroad, especially where Chip'n'PIN is new, for example in South Africa.
I spite of the chitty reading 'no signature required', cashiers in SA often ask for a signature even though the purchase is complete. 'M Mouse' or similar seems to satisfy them.0 -
I had this issue at my local train station when buying a ticket at the window and using contactless on a Lloyds Mastercard. The ticket was just under the £30 limit for contactless, and I was quite surprised when the guy gave me a slip to sign, I signed it and thought nothing more of it.0

So the interesting question would be, after successfully making a contactless payment, what if the cashier isn't happy with your signature? Can they reverse a payment that has gone through on a contactless machine, which the contactless terminal has already APPROVED?Optimists see a glass half full

Pessimists see a glass half empty
Engineers just see a glass twice the size it needed to be

I guess there'd be an option on the EPOS to reject the transaction if the cashier isn't happy with the signature? It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0
