Nationwide Flexdirect 5%

Just spoke to Nationwide and they' re now saying if you have previously held a Flexdirect account but have not closed it or transferred it to a flexaccount when the 5% rate ended, you will get 5% if you open a new Flexdirect account provided you've not had the 5% rate for 12 months.

He said this is a recent change because they had people ringing up asking why they can't get 5% on a new Flexdirect when their original 5% Flexdirect which wasn't closed but ended over 12 months ago.

We'll wait until we see it in the terms and conditions

When I saw your thread I was concerned Nationwide had announced the interest rate on the account would be reduced!

The advisor was quite sure about this.

I am not going to wait in case Nationwide cut the rate so I will be opening one today and will send a secure message to confirm what the advisor just told me.

He also said I could change my existing flexdirect to a flexaccount and change it back again to a flexdirect to get the 5% but it's much quicker to simply open another flexdirect.

yes, it's a poor choice of subject title.

Should be something like 'Opening a new Flexdirect account if you already have one'

The interest on the Flexdirect account is Fixed @ 5% for 12 months anyway.
  • Can you get the 5% if you closed an old one more than 12 months ago?
