O/S Daily Tuesday 23 August 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, light cloud with blue sky peeking through, sun now making an appearance, warm already and set to be a warm day. Washing in the machine, that will be pegged out on the line once it's finished.
DH up and gone to work early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit.
Dinner last night was a use up dinner - side salad, jacket potatoes, cheese, beans, pork pie, hot chicken breasts, burgers, pasta salad - nicely used up loads of bits, and I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost for tonight's dinner, which will be chicken, bacon and mushroom pie, with mash and veg.
Work yesterday was a manic Monday either manic or dead - busy most of the day though, we'll see what today brings.
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone.
Thanks for starting us off nmlc.
High tide and grey skies outside, looks better than yesterday.
Think my loo is cleared, at least the gurgling has stopped for now. Fingers crossed.
More later from me no doubt.
Enjoy Tuesday.0 -
Morning All
Wet here, yesterday stayed dry thank goodness, I cycled home and it took me just over an hour. Train both ways today as it's so wet (and my legs may not make it!).
Very busy at work yesterday, the young chap who works with us complained that the day was dragging in - well, do some work then!
Had sausages for tea last night with green beans from the garden and cauliflower rice, I put some brocolli in with it and it was delicious. Halloumi and veg for tea tonight, I have a salad for lunch.
Congrats on the new arrival MM!
Have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone,
Dry, bright and sunny here, we are set for a hot one.
Work was just about bearable yesterday, first my new manger wanted a "chat" then my old one who leaves Wednesday, lastly my supervisor sent me an email asking when I was ready for a catch-up. I replied that if it was about work happy to do it now but otherwise just wanted to keep my head down and work, she then stalked up to my desk, threw one piece of paper on it and walked off  nice.
Did take a phone call from the support team at the hospice, really nice lady who remembered Mum from when they cared for Dad, she hopes to get someone out to see Mum by early next week.
Really need to get to see Bill this afternoon, didnt go yesterday as fell asleep in the sofa, good thing about full livery at least I know he is well looked after in my absence so one less thing to worry about.
Have a good day everyone, take care folks x0 -
Morning, long day yesterday, long day today, hope everyone ok, gotta runI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

Morning all, thanks for the thread nmlc X
Gers - glad to hear the blockage has cleared.
Lainey - good to hear some support is on its way to your mum. Your supervisor sounds like a piece of work!
I'm off to the gym shortly then the charity for a few hours. Hoping that I've had some rsvps for a trip I'm organising in September. If not, then will cancel it as the charity would be paying for a guide.
My dad finally came to see us yesterday - he flies home on Monday. DS1 was working until 5 then went out with friends, so didn't see him at all really. DH phoned and left a message with the company he third interviewed with last week. No phonecall back so he's mightily fed up and very worried. If this doesn't work out we are in trouble as we only have two months money left to live on - so stressful.
Washing is on and DH will peg it out later. We have a repair man coming to look at our TD as it has a fault and was in the press. Not been using it much due to the weather thankfully.
Hope you all have a good day.

Morning (((((((((( hugs )))))))))) if you need one.
DB was told yesterday he was going to a hospital on the other side of the county, he refused to go, so he is still sitting waiting for a local bed. I had a vitriolic comment on my blog yesterday from someone in Canada........I wish people would realise our health service is run differently to theirs and if a patient does not want their relatives to travel miles along windy country roads that some drivers use as a race track that's fine, they are entitled to turn the bed down. Grrrrrrr.... Sorry rant over...
Shower is going in n next week. I thought I had a ghost this morning, footsteps creaking doors and banging......creaking door the wind, everything else was a chap dropping the stuff for the gas board to start tomorrow.
I had my little machine on E bay, it sold last night, someone got a bargain, waiting for the cash to go through so I can arrange for it to be picked up.
Right, time to get up and face the day........hospital visit this morning.
Congrats to MM granny again.0 -
Good morning chums,
Had a great nights sleep with a few weird dreams during. I did eat some cheese mind you.
A fairly uneventful day yesterday. Work followed by a game of badminton, a nice meal and some good TV. Tonight should be the same actually. Nothing terribly exciting.
Grey skies and wet underfoot here just and the forecast didn't look to promising either. We'll see what happens.
camelot - It's that reason that I love to keep myself busy, in or or out of work.
Coxy - Hope things were good with your Dad when he was over and chasing a response from the interview pays off.
csarina - I didn't know you had a blog, do you have a link so I can follow? I know it's easier said than done, but try and ignore the negative comments. As you point out, they're on the other side of the world and don't fully understand our circumstances.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
Just enjoying 5 minutes peace and quiet as the girls are still asleep and hubby has just left for the doctors to collect a sick note for another week off work. I'm trying not to worry as it won't change the outcome but it is difficult.
The sun is shining and I have heard from my eldest daughter that she is having a wonderful time on her honeymoon. They are off to Margate today and apparently the weather there is very good too.
I have seen lots of photos from the wedding and they just look so happy in them it makes my heart happy too.
I haven't got much planned for today, the house is fairly tidy and the washing is done, it just needs to be put away. I might see if DD15 wants to get the sewing machine out again to make some more bags.
DD16 is going out with her friends this evening. She is getting more and more nervous about her GSCE results this week. She wants to go with her friend to pick them up and then they are going to a birthday party the day after so that is a lot of socialising for her. She showed me a bald spot she has on the back of her head from where she pulls her hair, she is quite upset about it so she is going to make a conscious effort to leave her hair alone as she feels uncomfortable putting it up now.
Anyway, hubby has just returned so I will be off. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning all
Lovely weather here in Essex today so sat and had brekkie in the garden.Need to go shopping today but not really sure I fancy going need to chase up a tour company as I haven't heard back and I want to make sure our trips are all paid before we go on our big cruise as I want to take as little money as possible.
Lainey T chin up chick it's horrible when things are difficult at work
Coxy Hope DH hears something soon
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to x0 -
Morning all
Fish fed, dog has had her morning constitutional, hubby has been dropped at work with his pack up.
DD2's children have been fed and watered, littlest had her nappy changed, saw a huge rat, so the dog will be with me for a few more days yet.
Hubby's tax rebate paid in to the bank, stocked up on food as hubby's friend is due back today, he went to York for the weekend as it was somewhere his wife had always wanted to go and never made it.
He's had another row with her family, mind you he's the sort of person who could start an argument in an empty room.
He has now collected all his belongings and is bringing them here, I'm glad I decluttered or gawd knows where it would all go.
He has a car, motorhome, kit car that he built himself and two motor bikes, one he rides one he races, they are not coming here.
Today I need to strip the bed ready for his return, make up the other room ready for the DGC that are staying at different times.
I'm also photographing more stuff to put on eBay, salopetts or a bullwhip anyone?
Time I got a move on and got washing on the line, the first load has finished.
Have a great day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0
