samsung s5 flashing arrows

i recently came back from Italy and whilst there, I switched my phone off, then one day when I switched it on, 2 flashing triangles appeared, I have searched google but can't seem to find out what they are.
They are only on the page with the dots, that I use to get into my phone, they are above the red call button on the left, and camera button on the right they are 2 small triangles, one above each other, on either side, and they just flash.
When I put the code in to open my phone they vanish.
I've never had them before I wondered if anyone could let me know what they are there for.
Sorry for not being technical and explaining properly.

No it is 2 triangles.

No a triangle like this...filled in white, one above the other and flashing .

I think this may be some kind of "roaming" indicator ..


When you unlock your phone, do you see triangle in the top status bar ??


Are you still in Italy now ?

I tried a screen shot but it came out black.
I'll take a pic with my ipad when I get in later and post it.
