Unfortunately Tesco don't appear to allow payments into the Post Office. First DIrect, however, do.

I am also a Tesco Bank fan and would recommend if simplicity and Online banking is your preference. No secure key, no minimum monthly deposit required, no requirement to set up DD's, just use it and benefit from 3% for in credit balance. Never paid in via the Post Office myself but if it's personal contact you want, there is the option of some services in-store at Tesco. I also ditched my old Co-Op account after being with them for 20 years. Not sure they can claim the moral and ethical high ground anymore.

I have bank accounts with Santander, Nationwide, Halifax, TSB and Firest Direct and MS and Lloyds. The Halfiax / TSB and Lloyds online banking experiences are almost identical and its really just a change in logos, all seem fine and work well.

Santander and Nationwide both have very good online banking, I think Nationwide slightly edges it.

First Direct and M&S are almost the same, quite primitive. Actually a less is more approach for me is fine, and I can do pretty much anything I want. Both have those tiny annoying calculator things which loses marks for me and the M&S account doesn't even allow you to log in without them,

Too be honest, 'best' is really down to personal preferences, as long as things work and I can easily see my latest transactions and setup and make payments I am pretty happy, and on that basis all the above do that and more.

My new smile format went live today and I absolutely HATE it. It is so clunky to use. Fortunately it is just my back up account but there are aspects on there that are awful. For starters it gives the current account availability as x amount plus the agreed overdraft with no warning to people.

I have been with coop banking since 1970 and it was probably too simplistic but the new style is horrible. I shall continue to use smile but only for credit card and current account which transfers to the credit card. I am with halifax, my main account and also have backup with nationwide, both of which are so much nicer to use
