Returns

Options
Hi all,

I'm in the middle of restoring a car and my issue came when I ordered an exhaust from a Peugeot dealers parts department.

On their system there were two options, the first was Peugeots original part. I asked for this thinking it would be the same as the one that came on the car from the factory. I had to pay in advance and I waited a little over a week. When it arrived I found that it didn't have the chrome end the OE one should have and to keep it in keeping with the original look of the car I complained and I was issued a refund. Happy with my refund I chose to order the other option which was a pattern part (made by another company). This other option was slightly more but I thought because it's being supplied by a Peugeot dealer I thought it would be to a decent quality.

I went to collect the other part today to find the quality of this other part was no where as good as the previous but it had the chrome end so I thought I'd take it.

Once home I thought I'd do a bit of research on this part and I found the manufacturer of this unit selling them on Amazon for £160 less then what I paid for it at the Peugeot dealers.

You can imagine I feel pretty cheated and I was wondering what rights I have to return this over priced Item?

Just to add this was all done in store not mail order.

You have no legal right to a refund simply because you've now found it cheaper elsewhere!

However, the dealer may well refund you if you take it back "unsuitable".

In future, do some proper research before purchase. Are you sure the Amazon listing is for exactly the same part?

    Thanks for your reply.

The main issue I had on researching the part was the dealer couldn't give me any details on the part, nothing about who would be the manufacturer or the manufacturers part number. I just went on the assumption the Peugeot parts dealer would supply as good as OE not cheap tat at over inflated price.

The Amazon part has the same part number that's on the label. It doesn't show the Peugeot number listed in the advert.

    That was your big mistake.

    Never assume.

    Research fully BEFORE purchase.
