Holiday Hypermarket vs Thomsons

Hi - Looking at a holiday that is about £20pp cheaper if I book it through Holiday Hypermarket or indeed Holiday Pirates as opposed to through Thomsons or First Choice.

Is there anything I need to be aware of in terms of safety of booking a package holiday - eg is there more protection of sorts with First Choice / Thomsons?

Thanks

  • A package holiday gives protection under the Package Regulations, and you have a single contract. Booking separates or a flight plus you have separate contracts for each element. They're independent of each other so if you have a problem with one element you are still tied in to the others.

The Holiday Hypermarket is a TUI company the same as FC and Thomson. Holiday Pirates website is powered by the Holiday Hypermarket, which is obvious when you look at them.

You can claim cashback through Thomson with TopCashback.

No reason other than it just puts another set of people in between you and your booking. I'd rather cut out the agents and book direct with the Tour Op if I was ever to book a package holiday again.

Fair point usually, but given that Holiday Hypermarket are TUI and Thomson are TUI (and the websites list the same registered address) then I think it's a no brainer to book a TUI package through Holiday Hypermarket if it saves money...
