Obtaining Previous Holiday Booking Confirmation Details
muzzpat
I have previously had holidays to Tunisia and Egypt on both of which myself and the family became quite ill whilst using all inclusive resorts. Complaints were made at the time but the companies I'm question were not forth coming with any answers upon return.
Long story short I am now looking to obtain booking confirmation from 2013 and 2014 but I cannot find my paper work anywhere. Does anyone know how I could obtain confirmation of the past bookings as so far the travel agents in question have not been helpful.
Many thanks

you should be able to send £10 and request a SAR (Subject Access request) to obtain all information they hold on you
I assume you are planning to attempt to claim some compensation...do you have all your medical records that confirms a doctors diagnosis of the cause of the illness (e.g. salmonella, ecoli, campylobacter etc)...I assume you attended doctor or hospital whilst away
there are a number of ambulance chasing firms offering NWNF services for being ill on holiday but it is not as simple as saying that you were ill so want paid (despite what these firms are implying)..illness such as norovirus can be spread by other guests not hand washing etc and it is unlikely you would be able to track the actual source so the medical confirmation of cause of illness will be necessary0 -
Caz3121 makes a good point and raises a very valid warning about the recent attempts by dubious companies to suggest that money has been set aside by tour operators to pay claims on claimants who have reportedly been ill on holiday.
Be very careful. There is no goose laying a golden egg.0 -
Thanks for the info, I shall investigate further before committing to anything or,supplying further information. I'm not normally one to complain which is why upon return from holiday after the initial knock back I didn't pursue.
Appreciate the advice.0 -
Op Two words Barge and Pole.
They will ask you for money up front, never ever agree to that.If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
You should also be aware there is a 3 year time limit for claims alleging negligence on the part of the hotel or tour operator so your 2013 claim may be too late already. If you have no medical evidence from the time you were ill, you really have no hope this far down the line, if you have been cold called by a company claiming to help, beware.
I was called around 2 weeks ago asking me to make a claim against my all inclusive holiday, the only problem being I have never been on an all inclusive holiday in my life and yet they gave me the impression that if I would lie, they would make a claim. At that point I terminated the call, I assume they suddenly want a payment up front from the customer, as no tour operator or their insurers are going to deal with claims from passengers who never travelled with them in the first place.0
