We had our house fully refurbished 3 yrs ago. Being our first time, we made mistakes. I'm living with the mistakes since 3 yrs now, its getting a bit frustrating. How do I change/repair them without spending a lot of money?
1. Bathroom floor - We used light coloured - anti slip tiles (matt finish rough texture ones). My grout is white. Result = My bathroom floor looks dirty all the time. I am fed up of mopping it.
2. Kitchen floor: WHITE tiles. They looked so good in the magazine ! They are a nightmare to maintain. FED UP of mopping the floor and keeping the white grout clean
I was wondering if its a good idea to put down vinyl tiles (sheet) on my tile floor? I saw some really lovely stone pattern vinyl in a local carpet shop.
3. Kitchen splashback: Used matt tiles. Its nice - but it makes my kitchen look incredibly boring and dull. Is there any other option other than ripping them out and putting in new ones?

You could try Grimex it cleans fabulously0 -
Kitchen splashback - can you use some polish or coating to give the tiles some sort of sheen??"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

In the past we have had white floor tiles with black grout.
At the moment we have white grout, a daily vacuum and quick steam keeps ours white, mayb give that a try instead of mopping?0 -
You might be able to use a glass or acrylic splash back sheet to cover over the kitchen tiles. (Personally I would remove the files first.)
Floors, hmm, that's a bit trickier as your fittings are presumably sitting on them. Vinyl needs a flat surface so when it's walked on it would show the lines between the tiles. I suppose you could put laminate over the top?0 -
Why dont you buy yourself a multitool and grind out the grout and regrout with a grey colour thats what we have because white grout is a nightmare0

Can't you paint a sealer over the floor tiles? You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

I'd chip the grout out and replace with a coloured grout. With the splashback, if you want a really cheap (and mostly temporary fix) you can get sheets of stick on mosaic tiles from pound shops (a bit like these ones). We put some behind our bathroom sink because I didn't like how much the walls were getting splashed, and they look really pretty!Mortgage
