Help!!!!

I was insured (home insurance) with one call for 2015-2016

I decided not to renew so when they sent renewal info I ignored it. They kept sending emails urging me to "e sign the agreement" - I never did. I was insured by someone else at this point.

They started sending me letters threatening to "cancel the policy" despite me never paying them and never signing the agreement. I wrote to them advising them of this but they replied telling me they were charging me for the period they covered me (circa 2 months) and charges.

I now have a letter saying they are preparing documentation to take me to court for £213 and will seek bailiffs, a charging order or attachment of earnings order or CCJ!!!

Can they do this?

To clarify, I never paid them a penny, was insured by another company and didn't sign anything to renew or agree to the policy renewal (even if auto renewal how can they say they're covering me if I never signed or paid?)

If you owe them money they can chase you for it. If its an autorenewal policy you will have agreed to this when first taking it out

Explain to them you have cover elsewhere (send them proof) and take it from their reply.

Make sure you deal with this and don't end up with a cancelled policy on your record - which will be much more expensive over the years in increased premiums!

How easy would it have been just to tell them you had insurance from someone else, and thanks for the offer, but no thanks.

You would not have had any problems then would you?

    Good luck fj
