Improving Credit File for Mortgage Application

I had some problems in the past financially and have slowly been working on improving my credit file. By March 2017 I will have no defaults or CCJs on my credit report and will have a good history of green markers on my current mortgagee, credit card and car loan. Is there anything else in particular that would further better my chances of getting a good mortgage deal as I'm looking to move during 2017, e.g. would overpaying my mortgagee help or should I put that additional money towards deposit? I repay my credit card already in full every month and current car finance has 2 years to go, just looking for any other tips!
