Hi all,
Next April my son is going on an amazing school trip.
We feel a bit sorry for his younger sister who has by bad luck missed out on a lot more than he has and my wife wondered if taking her to Eurodisney for 2 to 3 days was feasible whilst he was away but having just run some prices for Eurodisney and flights its vastly too expensive (worse as its after term ends)
So, anyone got any other ideas for a bit of an adventure for a 11 year old girl?
So far I have come up with Venice maybe.. or how about a mini cruise sort of thing.. I don't know. She is too old for Bob the Builder World!
Sort of budget would be up to £500 total for 1 child 1 adult, flights, hotel 2/3 days.. activity..
Cheers

I'd say any city break would be great - Paris is beautiful, Prague is amazing. Germany is another good country for being kid friendly. Cologne and Berlin were two faves of mine when I was younger (dad travelled with work and took me along!).0
-
Was also going to suggest Paris which both my kids enjoyed.
Another alternative might be a weekend at one of the U.K. theme parks, eg. Alton Towers or Chessington.0 -
Amsterdam? Canals, sightseeing and windmills
Bruges? canals & chocolates
both of those possible by ferry making the crossing part of the trip
Die Efteling theme park Holland- Trip Adviser suggests £70 entry fee and round trip transport from Amsterdam!! Supposed to be magical
"Discover Holland's hidden gem. Efteling is a unique theme park with a fairytale atmosphere, natural surroundings and a wide range of thrilling and enchanting attractions, making it the ideal family short-break destination!"
Copenhagen or Odensee, Denmark. First has the Tivoli Gardens, palace- not sure if water taxis operate that early in the year. Odensee of Hans Christain Andersen fame. Legoland?Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

You might be able to go to Disneyland Paris more cheaply by train or coach and by not staying in their accommodation. We did it quite cheaply as a day trip from central Paris and then other Paris visits as well.0 -

Have you asked her what she would like to do? Sometimes even kids have a dream destination. You could just bring it up in conversation as a hypothetical question, just in case she is thinking of a world cruise!!:rotfl:Save0 -
Would be aiming to fly as very near Birmingham airport and would only need carry on luggage on a budget airline. It would save a lot of time and wife gets sick on coaches
Paris is an idea.. daughter missed out on a school trip there as the terrorist incidents caused too many parents to bottle out.
I will take a look at Amsterdam too.

Sort of.. her idea would be USA disneyworld accompanied by the singer Jesse Glynn! ....tricky on our budget :rotfl:0 -
How about carcassone, it was supposedly the inspiration for Disneyland after all.0
-
I would second Amsterdam - plenty of things to do with the kids - cheap to get to but expensive to stay in city centre.0
-
London ? Shopping, a show, sight-seeing.0
