IKEA Kura cabin bed - help?!

So we bought a second hand IKEA Kura bed from eBay.
We attempted to paint it etc and put our own spin on it, it's come to put it together and I'm completely stumped. I've tried following the instruction manual on Ikea's website however I feel this is a newer version than the bed we've bought.
At the moment, several pieces of a wood, screws and a very upset male!
Has anyone done this and built the bed from scratch? I think I'm struggling as the manual doesn't match the bits, however still, an IKEA bed shouldn't be rocket science to put together.
Any help greatly appreciated.
