Credit file mix up

Options
Applied for a loan through my bank on 26th July, declined as they reckon I have a bankruptcy registered in my name (totally untrue, never been bankrupt) no evidence on 3 reports of any bank credit search either.
Letter arrived 5 working days later still confirming the non acceptance. Spoke to a bank adviser on phone who said there was no record of me applying for a loan and put me through to the insolvency department who confirmed that I do not have a bankruptcy in my name. I accessed the insolvency register and found 2 people with the same name as me on there.
On 3rd august took 3 copies (76 pages and one ink cartridge) of my credit reports to my local branch. I did not receive any acknowledgement until Fri 12th august and that was only to say my application was being reviewed, nothing about the credit mix up which hasn't been confirmed yet.
I was told by a bank adviser on line that they would escalate my complaint yet have had no letter to confirm this. I am totally unhappy with the level of communication and find the whole thing stressful, it's not about the money, I am more concerned about mistaken identity, has anybody come across this before? I am now considering going to the Ombudsman.

Thanks

    Hi Wildz,

You will have to give the bank 8 weeks to correct their own error but if they don't do that to your satisfaction you should then go to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Try and make it clear in your original complaint, what the problem was, why was that a problem and how do you want it resolved? Are you looking for an apology, compensation or the loan approval? I hope you get it sorted,
