Would I be able to get a mortgage under these circumstances?

I hate RTB and anything to do with it. I'm a higher tax payer and as usual I get nothing. This week, a guy posted about RTB in another forum and got ripped apart. The scheme is evil.
Your happy because you have doubled your wealth via the taxpayer. Homes should not be sold off cheap to people who do not longer require them. They should go to families in need.

And as a higher tax payer i guess you voted Tory. You'll have a job " ripping me apart " . Personally i think the selling of council houses without replacing them is an insane policy. But at the end of the day faced with a choice of paying less for a mortgage than renting is a no- brainer.0

There are some vile comments in this thread and quite frankly the moderation team need to do something about these types of comments.
The OP has come here to ask for some advice, not to be spoken down to by people who think they can take some kind of moral high ground.
The OP quite clearly stated they have an HA property, not a council property.
Regardless, it is nothing to do with anyone why someone would have lived in a council property, tax payer or not. I suppose you would like all the "Council Housers" to continue to rely on the state for life rather than put themselves in a better position through working and becoming a tax payer and then not becoming reliant on the state any more, whilst making a life for themselves and families?
Seriously some of you need to read what you have written and take a good hard look at yourself in the mirror, because quite frankly we don't need your narrow mindedness on this board.
I too disagree with the right to buy - It takes desperately needed social housing out of the supply which isn't being replaced, but I don't ddemonise those who have been in the position to have to use that housing and then subsequently take advantage of what the government allows. Yes, Broken Britain, because some people who class themselves as too high up the social ladder lack a basic human quality of empathy and would quite happily see those born into less advantaged families continue in a life of dis-advantage than actually do something to turn around their fortunes.0 -
No I voted UKIP. There is no requirement to sell social properties and driving low income families into the private sector. Social housing should be only for low income families. As OP now earns more than the UK average, he should not be offered RTB. He should be moved to the private sector where he can survive on his salary. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. If your partner has lived there more than one year then she can be added as a joint purchase . For instance , if you've lived there ten years and your partner just over one, you can make a joint purchase with a ten year discount. Should get a mortgage easy then, but i would seek a good adviser. My adviser was excellent. I never knew buying a house was so easy. Took a long time but basically signed whatever was sent to me and that was that .0

He has posted on a open forum and our comments are not vile. They are based on our opinion of RTB. Ok we can get back to OP original question.
No, he should not be allowed to buy due to his debt levels. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Not Allowed ? £35,000 income , plus partner income on a £60,000 mortgage ? The debt doesn't look good, but i would seek advice straight away. My mortgage is far higher and single income. Go for it.0

No, he should not be allowed to buy due to his debt levels.
Comments directed at an individual are NOT comments on the RTB scheme. Personal attacks on people are NOT comments on the RTB scheme.
Comments like I wrote about my own personal view on the RTB scheme are comments on the RTB scheme.
Posters should not come here to then have personal attacks thrown at them because of their circumstances. End of story.0
