Housing benefit to private landlords

The problem with the statement is it ignores Germany which has lower unemployment and higher wage growth. And numerous countries which have lower wage growth and higher unemployment.
Germany had no minimum wage legislation until January 2015. Immigrants were poorly paid. (Obviously happy to take whatever paid work they could). The current minimum wage isn't going to be reviewed until January 2018. The impact on German economic performance is uncertain. Though there will be some.
There's still 6 EU countries which don't operate any minimum wage policy.0 -
I would prefer it if we tried a free market approach. There is no need for housing benefit. Let people move to where they can afford. If business can't afford to hire staff in a particular location, let them pay more or move to a cheaper location. Or let rent prices drop.
I don't like food benefits going to the big corporate food retailers
I would prefer it if we tried a free market approach. There is no need for food benefits. Let people buy what they can afford to eat. If people can't afford to eat cake they can eat bread. If they refuse to eat bread and want cake then the supermarkets will have no choice but to produce cheaper cake or let cake prices drop0 -
I wonder if mwpt would let the free market operate in the mortgage market so more people can buy hence less housing benefits needed?
We need a return of self cert for 10% down mortgages. And a return if 100% mortgages for non self cert borrowers0 -

The supply of housing is inelastic. The supply of food is elastic.

if mwpt or anyone else really doesnt want poor people in London I feel they would have to be against social housing as well as HB
24% of all the homes in London are social. They should be sold off
Also housing benefit to private landlords in a lot of the country post tax probably works out cheaper than social landlords. Do the math for a higher rate taxpayer landlord in the north or midlands renting out a £500pm property who will also pay CGT and see what the net cost is0 -

you don't think we actually need to produce things that people want to buy?
