What does he normally use to wash? Depending on what he's using, he might be drying his skin out so it will produce more oil to compensate for it.0

Good question - think it's soap!0

Like just a normal bar of soap? If so, I would advise buying a cleanser developed for the face, something like Simple's Gel face wash, and it should help if the soap is drying his skin out. I used to have oily skin, and I just started washing with just water, and my skin was dehydrated. Since using Simple's Gel face wash, my skin has been a lot less oilier. Or if he does have oily skin, and not dehydrated, a face wash for oily skin could help a lot. As well, does he moisturise?0

No moisturising!0

You could try and find a non expensive moisturiser for him, but he doesn't have to use it, it will help in the longer run, but it's personal choice really. I hope I've helped you0

Soap and water are incredibly drying for skin. A dry skin will produce more oil to compensate
Google the oil cleansing method. Sounds weird but it does work. Look at all the big beauty companies who sell perfumed oils
OCM has balanced my skin enough now that I do now need a very light moisturiser.
My regime is OCM twice a week. Just water the other days. I use Liz Earls light moisturiser mornings and something a wee bit heavier at times, like elemis balms at night on problem areas
It's really about stripping back the regime to the basics then building up from there. Skin can be changed from oily to natural if it's treated gently
I'm from the generation who thought clearasol and scrubs and steaming were the best tings for oily skin. I'm glad I learned differently0 -
I second the oil cleansing method - it has done wonders for my oily skin (I do this at night to take off my make up). I've also started using a Konjac sponge and it has been a game changer for me. its kinda like a face sponge (but made of a vegetable) and you don't need any cleanser but it cleans and exfoliates your face really gently. I use mine in the shower each morning and it seems to have reduced the oil slick and open pores. I got mine from TK Maxx for about £3."I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants." A. Whitney Brown0

Oily skin needs some extra care. I use Shu Umuera oil cleanser (a bit expensive but can last for a year) followed by La Roche - Posay purifying foaming gel for oily sensitive skin. I exfoliate my skin twice a week and once a week I use a clay mask.
I then use an oil controlling toner and apply a moisturiser that will balance the skin PH level.
I have tried many products and I will suggest do invest in the good skincare brands. They tend to avoid those products which can cause skin irritation or cause break outs on oily skin. They are a bit expensive but they do last very long.0
