O/S Daily Thread for Sunday21st August 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

• Morning all
Damp and drizzly here today, still it means it should be cool enough to blitz the house with my DD's as planned.
As soon as I let the dog out of the living room this morning she went straight upstairs to be with hubby, he certainly has a fan there.
I will do cooked breakfast when hubby gets up and a buffet for lunch, rolls, HM sausage rolls, HM flavoured chicken strips, hard boiled eggs, salad, garlic bread and hardboiled eggs. A weird mix I admit, but that way there will be something on the table for everyone.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone.

Thanks for the thread HH. That's some spread for lunch.

It's a bit grey here too but it's forecast for better. Yesterday was foul in Glasgow all morning but lovely and sunny here.

I went to Cost*o when down in Glasgow, mainly for loo rolls so should be well provided for all winter!

Today I'll be doing dome tidying up in the kitchen, I have no idea why it needs it but it looks untidy. Mind you it's so small that it looks untidy very easily. My wine order arrived yesterday so I'll need to bring it in from the barn and stash it all away.

I want to search for some sort of wall hanging system for holding fruit / veg. At the moment it all goes on the counter top in the utility room and it bothers me. Also want a new bedside table for the spare room as the current one is just a wee table with slatted top do it's not suitable at all.

So, a quiet day ahead then. I hope everyone has a lovely Sunday with special thoughts to those having a tough time.

Morning :hello:

camelot The community garden sounds fab!

YAY congratulations flutterby :j

LameWolf I would warmly welcome Big Jack Spaniel, especially if he can teach Scampi to control his mood swings :D

Donna is settling in well, I was a bit worried because I would never normally introduce just one chicken in case of bad bullying. I usually buy two or three together – sometimes four. Cleo tried telling her off but she argued back and won. Just as well she still has a baby voice, if she had an adult cluck there would have been a hell of a racket :D
Poor Millie though, she had fly strike and I couldn't understand why it was so bad last night. I knew she had to be PTS but there was no way I was going to leave it til today to take her to the vet. So I rang a friend who used to work with chickens and has kept plenty of his own, he has all the equipment for any situation. He had a look and said it would've been fine if I'd carried with what I was doing, IF it was on the surface, which most it was. But it looked like she'd been pecked by one of the other girls which had caused it to go deeper, too deep. So she is gone

I was reminded yesterday about a BBQ I'm invited to this afternoon. Why why why did I say yes?! I hope it's rained off. Or, they move it indoors and I won't be able to take Scampi, so obviously I won't be able to stay too long because he can't be left for more than an hour and half *cough cough* I can't eat anything anyway because of my wobbly front tooth, lol.

Morning All

Shhh, it's not raining at the moment! I've cleaned the bathrooms and put the DW on, planning on having a housework morning.

tru - sorry to hear you've lost Millie but glad to hear Donna is settling in.
We had mixed weather yesterday Gers, but mainly rain, hope you have a dry day.

Did all my shopping bits yesterday, DD is coming later - we've been invited to friends for a Sunday roast then she will take the car with her, I must look up the times of the trains for work.

Hope you all have a good Sunday, take care. XX

Good Morning all,had a nice face time call from my DGS in america late last night He is out there working on an add campaign. He's been in Minnisota but was back in New York last night. He rang me as he was walking down Broadway on the way to the movies :) I was sitting up in bed on the Isle of Wight in my holiday house on my laptop. The wonders of the internet bless him he likes to keep in touch where ever he is if he can He is filming all day today as the roads are a bit quieter. He loves his job and spends a lot of time in the U.S.Germany,Estonia and Eastern Europe.Definitely a dream job for a young man of almost 26. Yet he was sad that he couldn't be home to watch his favourite West Ham FC :)

Not too sure what the plan is today as the weather although dry is a bit mixed.
Hope everyone has a good day what ever they are doing

Holiday is going far too quickly

Cheers chums

• Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

OH was much brighter when I went yesterday, he had his lunch, then started with a dizzy, so got him to bed and left, no point sitting there, it's better for him to try and sleep it off.

When I got home the gardener had been, weeded the front garden, she came back about 4 pm and took out all the veg that was past it, we then worked together weeding, 2 hours saw it all done, I am so grateful, it's something I can keep on top of now. I am very stiff this morning........

Picked a load of veg, I am going to see my quilting friend this morning,
OH on the way back and then to DD's for supper, so out most of the day.

It's quite a bit cooler, I had to put a pair of socks on last night, my feet were freezing. Day off visiting, step son is going in tomorrow and Wednesday, he is then off on his hols, so I will be back to full time visiting. I am hoping by then they will have transferred OH to our local hospital for rehab.

Time to get up and load the car, lots of veggies to hand out.

Morning everyone, thanks for the thread Hester.

Dry and reasonably bright here, it's set to get warmer again, had a long sleeved top on yesterday.

Went out and had lunch in the GC, have to say it was very tasty and good value. Picked up a couple of lavendar plants & the pots for them to go in, the bees were already on them as I was planting them up :)
Mum had a bad afternoon, feeling sick for the rest of the day poor thing. She is going home today for a few days, knows she can come back whenever she wants but right now think she just wants a bit of time to herself.

Tru, sorry to hear about Millie bird but lovely that Donna is settling in.

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

Morning everyone,

Last day of taking things easy......DD4 is in tomorrow to have her baby by CSection, was to be Friday, but put off because of emergencies in hospital....will be there all day tomorrow until DSIL to be comes home, then 6am until 2pm for rest of week.....will have DGS2 as back up....he is wonderful with C and M. As long as all is well with DD and baby it doesnt matter.

OH fell down 3/4 steps of the stairs 2 weeks ago and hurt his back......is still in severe pain, has had an xray, nothing broken, no bruise but seems to have done some damage to muscles. Because of Warfarin he cant take strong painkillers so just using gel and Tiger Balm 3 or 4 times a day. To add insult to injury (pardon pun!) I slipped on wet kitchen floor yesterday, fell heavily on my knee, so I am hopping today........being a woman, I will be fine!

Dumpling....well done on getting to enjoy the wedding.

Tru....sympathy on loss of Millie bird, congratulations on acquisition of Donna, lovely story.

Csarina......hope that OH is soon moved nearer to you, please take it as easy as you can.

Hester.....no idea how you keep going, I would cave in with half your work load.

Laineyt....hugs for your mum.

Have a good day all

Jack's lovely - he's a HUGE English Springer, and he's so laid back it's just amazing. He's here for a 21-day stay (been here 10 days already). Sadly, the franchise is closing, because the franchisee has to relocate (family woes) and hasn't been able to find a buyer for the franchise. :( I shall so miss my canine friends.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
