Can anybody recommend a good book for potential new landlord?

We're thinking of buying a property we can't move into immediately so will need to rent it out for a few years.


Things have changed a lot since the last time we rented out a house (15 years ago), can anybody recommend a good book so we can educate ourselves about the responsibilities/pitfalls.

    You might have a few hurdles to overcome before you can buy a BTL property.
    Broker, accountant, local letting agents can all help you buy the right property in the right area with the best mortgage, unless you have cash ?

    Join NLA or RLA and do one of their one day landlord introduction courses.

    It will save you more in time &money than it costs you.

    We should be OK on the finance front, it's the technicalities of being a landlord we need to brush up on.

    Split the difference and join the NRA instead. You might even get to meet Charlton.

    In Wales, you now have compulsory registration, attendance and examination before being able to apply for licence. All cost substantial sums and the stories you hear of distress and damage (mainly by people with one inherited house as their pension plan) are a deterrent for most.
