Decent portable charger i.e. Not chinese?

Hi all,

Looking for a new portable charger for my mobile phone when out and about, I've had a branded one (forgotten the brand!) and it's given up after less than 2 years useage, and I probably used it about 5 times!

I've also had some Chinese freebies given to me and they are absolutely useless...

Ideally around 10,000mah - 20,000mah is ideal.

Cheers all.

Any recommendations?

I doubt you can avoid any contact with China, but you can avoid dealing with cheap and nasty! Try Aukey brand, properly Quick Charge 3 compatible (suitable Qualcomm processors negotiate a charging voltage with the charger, so much faster fully managed charge than just 5v 1A type cheapies) etc., well made, etc.

I have 2 Anker battery packs and a couple of their multi port wall chargers. A number of my friends also use them. All have been reliable and charge my devices quickly.

Customer service is good and they have an 18 month warranty.

The prices go up and down on Amazon so watch out for a bargain

I have a Cygnett branded little charger and it does it's job well, but they also do a 10,000 one like this

Anker stuff is great. We've got a load of their multi-way USB chargers and cables and they're all good, and I've go a 4000mAh battery which is also good.

In the family we also have three of these in various capacities and they've been great. But I think some of the more modern ones are smaller for the same capacity.

The thing to look for with all chargers is whether they can do the 10W charging for devices that support it.

Anker all the way for me too.

Though I'm sure they'll be made in China too ;)

Buy from proper Amazon, not marketplace, to make sure you don't get a fake.

Any manufacturer of electrical products for which this happens can't be trusted:

So you only buy products with which nothing can ever go wrong? Ever?

I wonder how you can manage to do this...

Thanks very much people, Anker definately seem to be the way forward!

Found some nice pieces of kit, 5200mAh for £15

    Or... 20,000mAh for £35....

Basically 1.5x charge for the phone or 4 or 5 charges... always nice to have I suppose. May wait until I get an offer from ebay and invest in the latter! Nice one.

Also agree with John, in that review, they even offered to replace it for free! I expect any other brand could have done the same if not worse!

Be careful, very often when they "give up" it's because the cable got damaged or was just some cheap nasty cable where the contacts went high resistance. A resistance of more than a few ohms can cause a large enough voltage drop to stop most devices charging at all.

  • The 20,000 Anker one should drop to £22 again soon looking at 3 camels.
