We are holidaying in the south of France on a campsite near Perpignan but picking up the hire car from Girona airport, north of Barcelona. Can anyone advise me which are the best and clearest road maps to buy please?

Michelin maps are good. Small scale and large are available.
The coast road is very interesting if you have time.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Thanks Richard, Ill take a look at their website.0

I used google maps on an iPhone in Italy and it was very easy to get about, if you have a smartphone consider seeing if you can use it for this on EE.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Another really good idea, thanks again Richard. I am with EE on my iPhone.0

Don't forget an iPhone lead with a usb plug on one end, there may be a usb socket in the car for charging.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I'm old fashioned and I like to see the 'big picture' on a paper map.
I just buy one of those large AA maps of France and they'll be fine for most your actual holiday.
The map book won't have Spain though so the idea of using your phone for that part of the journey is a good one.
I'm sure you'll want to go straight to your accommodation when you first get there but I'd recommend Empuries and the coast road for a day out. Duty paid prices can be cheaper in Spain too. I've had some great holidays in that area. Enjoy!:)0 -
