Blocking intrusive ads on ipad

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper I've been Money Tipped!
I've an iPad mini with Adblock and Adblock plus enabled. I've also got block pop ups enabled

What is bugging the hell out of me is the, I call it the social media bar, which floats down the left side of the screen. 👿. The one showing Facebook, Twitter, G plus and the likes.

The other ads that bug me is the type that come floating onto the screen and obscure what you are reading, trying to force you to an ad page. Some do a great job of obscuring the x to close the floater.

Don't get me wrong I don't mind ads that are not in your face; I do appreciate that this is how authors raise revenue and well there is very little in life that's free. But I'd love to kill those intrusive ads.....dead!

Any advice on this issue, any recommendations regarding apps and setup? Really would appreciate it

Kevin

    Hello Kevin,

Wonder if it's worth trying disabling Java Script?

JavaScript is on by default. To change your settings, tap Settings > Safari > Advanced and turn JavaScript on or off. JavaScript lets web programmers control elements of the page. For example, a page that uses JavaScript might show the current date and time or cause a linked page to appear in a new pop-up page.
If you disable JavaScript, you might prevent some unwanted pop-ups. But you might need JavaScript on in order for some websites to work.

An app I use is called Ad Guard (free from Apple's App Store) and 99.9% of the time it does a good job of blocking adverts so might be worth a try?

I also appreciate adverts support websites in terms of revenue but some are too intrusive and/or have no relevance to me.
It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

You could try Crystal content blocker. http://crystalapp.co/
