We know who these members are, its not as if they try to hide the fact, on the contrary they mention it on their very banner. This is a community, the staff at the very least would have to be firm but fair, whether or not its to their friends.

I don't think that the majority did start out as a member of this forumlike the rest of us. The actual MSE people are paid professionals and I would suspect they don't actively recruit people from the forum.

It's just a job like any other job!

Your OP is written as if you were stating facts rather than just giving your opinion.

There is a hint in the OP that you're just spreading and repeating forum gossip - and you've confirmed that in the post I've quoted.

I can't fault you for trying to defend your mum. And I understand that your relationship with her will influence the way you see her and her behaviour.

I still disagree with you - about the content of your OP and about the fact that you started it in the first place.

Andrea has always been really professional and kind in my dealings with her. I think the title of this post is really nasty and unfair.

There have long been suspicions that malicious reporting goes on. A recent thread also suggested that there are people with multiple accounts on here who systematically target and "group-report" someone whose posts they dislike in order to get them banned.


Is there a way of preventing this, or is it just part and parcel of internet chat-rooms.. I would have thought that the same person would have the same IP address, but I don't know? I suppose they could be typing from a different phone or a tablet but it seems an awful lot of trouble to go to just to ban an anonymous user-name from a forum :undecided

Children, children! Does any of this actually matter? This is an anonymous forum. It can't harm you!

If you see words you don't like, you can make them disappear. It's your screen you're looking at. You control what you see on it. You can even turn the screen off completely!

And who cares about anyone being banned or PPR'd? In a few seconds, you can fire up a proxy and create a new account on MSE.

Don't people have better things to do than pick fights with people they've never met via forum messages?!

If someone knocked on my front door and said, "You are a fool!", I would close the door and carry on with my life. I wouldn't invite them into my house, shout at them for a few hours and then call the police to demand that they be silenced!

Many people have fallen foul of the clique reporting on this site, it was rife at one time, may still be rife.

However, with regard to the subject of the OP I agree with Coolcait. Perception and relationship to the person colour the view of the OP.
