Evening all,

Just looking for some advice if anyone can help.

on 19th July we brought a 59 plate nissan qashqai n-tec from a local dealer. The car should have a sat nav / multimedia system which also has bluetooth and is the screen for reversing camera. While on the test drive we were told that this currently was working properly but that all it needed was a new memory card. We were told that this would all be sorted for us along with a new MOT for the following week.

I chased up the car on the following weds to be told mot was all done but that they had got a new memory card for the sat nav but the unit was showing to have an intermittent problem with the power button, was advised that they were talking to blaupunkt to get it sorted with the aim of sending the unit away - for them to repair over night before sending it back to us. We were advised we could take the car and get the stereo after the weekend ( by this point we had sold our other car so this seemed the only option ) we picked up the car and we are still waiting! The garage seem to have put faith in blaupunkt who have now said the unit needs a new power supply which is getting sent over from germany. We have now had the car for 3 weeks with no radio / sat nav etc and getting pretty annoyed, I have spoke to the garage again today and still no further on.

Where do i stand on either returning the car as not as described or asking them to buy a new head unit. Do i have to wait a reasonable amount of time for them to resolve it and if so what is a reasonable amount of time?

Sorry it's a bit long, hope someone can advise...

  • At least they are trying to sort it and not giving you the cold shoulder. It seems that it is sat with the stereo manufacturer so perhaps give them more time. The time to argue is when they shrug

    Really?

Rejecting a car because of that?

    A) The dealer is sorting it - be patient
    B) No radio or Sat-Nav for 3 x weeks - best call the papers!

My dad had a Kia (bought from a dealer in NI) and had to wait 7 weeks for a part.

    Be reasonable....
