Vauxhall key fiasco

Looking for advice please. Has anyone had problems with Vauxhall?
My young son wanted a 2nd key for his Vauxhall car so went and ordered it from Vauxhall, Mallusk. It took a few days because it had to be ordered and coded. When it came it wasn’t a Vauxhall one but Opel and worked fine. It worked for a few days but then it cracked (on the plastic bit where the metal pin is) and now it won’t close. It also appears to be bent. He took it back to Vauxhall to get it looked at. They sent it away and tested it. Their report says that he has used it to lever open something like a tin of paint or it had been dropped. Now what I don’t understand is how it was used to lever something as the key is bent the opposite way (it would’ve closed if it was used to lever something - iyswim) and surely keys are meant to be sturdy enough to withstand being dropped. My son says he hasn’t done anything to the key or dropped it.
We have spoken to Vauxhall, Mallusk who won’t do anything. We have spoken to Vauxhall customer services in England who also won’t do anything. They say it is between us and the Mallusk branch. We went down to CAB who say we can go to small claims court but all we want is the key fixed or a refund.
My son hasn’t done anything to the key. He was sold an item that wasn’t fit for purpose or is sub standard. The key plastic cover is cracked and it won’t close and the key is bent. It cost him well over £100 of his own money. I don’t know where to go next. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Would it not be safe to assume that if the key got bent that there was some significant force applied to it that bent the key and cracked the case?
I've NEVER had a key bend on its own in my pocket - have you?
Take the key yourself and see if you can bend it - i bet you cant.0 -
Yes That's the thing. It would take excessive force to bend it but we didn't. It just hasn't stood up to everyday use.[FONT="]

The penny doesnt seem to be dropping here does it?- You know it would take excessive force to bend it
- You cant bent it under normal use
- The key is bent and the case is cracked
- The dealership say they've examined it and have concluded that it has been subject to excessive force
- Your son says he didnt bend it
Which of those might not really be true?0 -
I know you are implying my son bent it. I know he didn't. Fact - The case has cracked so the key is not in its proper place. The key won't close back in and is out of shape.[FONT="]

If it worked for a few days first it didn't break on it's own, did it? Assuming it wasn't cracked on arrival. Keys don't just split/snap for no reason.0

On my last corsa the key became bent as there was a problem with my ignition which meant it was a nightmare turning the key to start my car. Had it changed twice but still it persisted, could it be a similar issue here?0

You could try putting the metal (only) part of the key in a vice and carefully straighten it - worth a punt I would have thought !0

OP how was the key paid for?
Debit card then attempt a chargeback
Credit card S75 for defective goods IF what you have told us is correct.0
